Awesome Community

You know the feeling you get at a sports game when your team scores and the crowd shouts in exultation and you’re overwhelmed with a deep sense of connection with everyone in the stands who shares your joy?

Or how about when you’re at a concert with your phone held high, its screen one of countless glowing dots forming a tapestry of light that envelopes the crowd as you all sing in unison, belting the lyrics of a much-loved song?

That kind of shared experience is the perfect distillation of what it means to be in “community” with each other.

Community is humanity’s superpower. It’s what facilitates our ability to survive in and as a group. Community is how we live, work, and play together and collaborate with each other to achieve our goals and shape the world around us. It’s how we form families and friend groups, the values we share, and the infrastructure and environments we create based on those values.

Community is the culture we create, the beliefs we uphold, and the systems of governance we employ to maintain order and minimize the conflicts that invariably arise when individuals with competing interests have to share space and resources with each other.
